Students will learn essential workplace safety and skills through classroom, lab, and online activities. Topics include hazard identification, PPE use, fire prevention, and Hazardous Communications (HazCom) with Safety Data Sheets (SDS). The course integrates D2L for assignments and communication, the Mike Rowe Works platform for career readiness modules, and instruction on résumé writing to prepare students for employment.

This course focuses on communication concepts, skills and behaviors, and safety practices utilized in the workplace. The course demonstrates the relationships between listening; oral communication; human relations skills; problem-solving and teamwork dynamics; time and resource management; and work ethics and job interviewing; with success in a student's desired field.
