Music Minor in Jazz Studies

Minor in Jazz Studies - 19 Credits

The Jazz Studies Minor is designed for non-Music Majors who are interested in acquiring the fundamental knowledge of jazz music. Students pursuing the jazz minor must complete the following courses, listed below.  For further information, including application forms, please see Dr. Treinen.  For all students seeking a minor in music, a minimum of 15 credit hours of the minor must be completed at Washburn University.  In addition, students wishing to pursue any of the minors in music must pass an entrance audition along with attending and accruing 14 recital credits.

- Must be MU upper division courses.
- To received upper division credit for lessons and ensembles, the student must pass a jazz performance exam.
Other Requirements
- Pass entrance audition prior to admission to the minor
- Submit music minor application at the beginning of the program
- Earn at least 14 recital attendance credits prior to graduation
- Maintain regular communication with music minor advisor
